Özgecan Kesici was born in Munich to Kazakh-Turkish parents, and holds German citizenship. After spending a substantial part of her adult life in Dublin, she now lives in Berlin.
Poetry credits include: Poetry Ireland Review, The Blue Nib, and Boiler House Press.
Özgecan is currently drafting her debut novel: Silver is Lighter, an historical female epic based on the Kazakh diaspora.
She speaks Kazakh, Turkish, English, German, French, and Russian, has taken the Summer School for Literary Translation in Poetry, UEA and works as a literary translator.
Özgecan Kesici holds a PhD in Sociology from University College Dublin on the Kazakh national movement, 2017.
